Shaw Cattle Company of Caldwell, ID, a family seedstock operation with Black and Red Angus and Polled and Horned Herefords, uses a combination of pre-numbered Allflex visual tags as well as using the 2-in-1 Marking Pen for additional customization. According to Tucker Shaw, when calves are born, sire codes are hand-written on the tags. When females are retained in the herd, they apply a new customized double tag combination that will remain with that cow through her lifetime.
