Tip #4 - Livestock Syringe Maintenance
Veterinarians and livestock producers depend on Allflex Syringes. They're competitively-priced, precision instruments.
Click here for a guide to proper maintenance of your livestock syringe to keep it in top working condition, so it’s ready when you need it.
Proper cleaning and lubrication can extend the life of your Allflex Syringe.
- After use or when switching medications, the injection syringe cylinder and feed tube should be thoroughly cleaned.
- Fill the medication reservoir with hot, soapy water. Set dosage on maximum and briskly pump the detergent solution through the reservoir, feed tube and instrument. If you are using modified live vaccine, avoid antibacterial or disinfectant soap as it may harm the vaccine.
- Rinse by pumping clean water through the reservoir, feed tube and instrument until water is expelled. Pump dry and remove tubing.
- Maintain O-rings and valves by periodically lubricating the syringe with a small amount of castor oil or vegetable oil. DO NOT USE mineral oil, silicone, glycerin or alcohol. Petroleum based products will reduce the life of the components.
